Obituary For Alexander Billmeyer

Alexander “Alex” Billmeyer, III, 83, formerly of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, at Hillside Senior Living Community in Montoursville, PA. He was born November 15, 1941, in Bloomsburg, PA, the son of the late Alexander and Phyllis Creasy Billmeyer.

Alex graduated from Danville High School in 1960 and later from Bloomsburg College with a bachelor’s degree.

He was employed as a dedicated case worker for Lycoming County for over 30 years.

His commitment to helping others left an indelible mark on those he served.

An avid hunter, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed collecting Indian artifacts, loved cars and was an avid reader. Alex will be remembered for the gentle impact he had on those around him and quiet dignity with which he lived his life.

A descendant of notable lineage, he was the great-grandson of The Honorable Alexander Billmeyer who was a democratic member of the United States House of Representative from Pennsylvania. He was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-seventh Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Rufus K. Polk.

He is survived by one brother, Randall L. Billmeyer and his wife Maxine of Danville, PA; two nephews: Alexander “Alex” Billmeyer and Michael Billmeyer and one niece, Rebecca “Becky” Roney; all of Danville, PA as well as several great-nephews and great-nieces. Also surviving is one cousin, Michael Lenton of Carlisle, PA.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Todd, in infancy.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
