Obituary For Alfred J. Bashore, II

Alfred J. “Alfie” Bashore II, 76, of Danville, PA, passed away on June 6, 2025, at his residence. He was born July 30, 1948, Quakertown, Pa., the son of the Reverend Alfred J. Bashore of Shamokin, Pa. and Elaine Katze of Selinsgrove, Pa.

Alfie graduated from Shamokin High School and later from Geisinger Medical Center School of Nursing.

His career in nursing began immediately after graduation and continued until he retired. Alfie's compassionate spirit guided him through his career in health care, where he touched the lives of countless patients with kindness. He embodied the spirit of nursing practice as a mentor and provided excellent care.

He was a lifelong musician, especially dulcimer and multiple stringed instruments. In his retirement, he had a passion for teaching Yoga. Alfie was a founding member of the Frosty Valley Dulcimer Friends and a member of Iron Ukulele Benders; both of Danville, Pa.

Alfie will be remembered for his deep spiritual core, his creativity and a wry sense of humor. He loved books, beekeeping and cats.

He is survived by his only daughter, Jennifer Bashore (Jason) Haley; his parents Alfred (Esther) and Elaine; his siblings Stephen (Jackie) Bashore, Matthew (Cheryl) Bashore, Marcus Bashore, Constance (Marlin) Land, Karen (Diane) Bashore, Martha (Stephen) Bashore-Blaser, Joshua Bashore, and Hannah Bashore; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Andrew S Bashore and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A private family memorial gathering will be held on July 5, 2025. A community memorial service is being planned for July 6, 2025.

    I am so sorry to learn of Alfie's death. he was a wonderful man who gave a great deal to friends, family and the patients he saw each day. Whether it was a kind word or the tne music he plad, love was in his heart. He made a difference to those he knew. Ann Ameigh
