Obituary For Allen Harry Kessler
Allen Harry Kessler, 89, of Milton, PA passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA. He was born in Danville PA on August 26, 1935, the son of the late Honorable Harry Kessler and Mary Mildred Shultz Kessler.
Allen graduated from Danville High School in 1953 and later from Bloomsburg State Teacher’s College in 1957. He received his master’s degree in teaching from Montclair State Teacher’s College in Montclair, NJ where he taught Business Education in New Jersey from 1962 – 1976. He relocated back to Pennsylvania where he was employed by Merck Pharmaceuticals as a chemical operator, from where he retired.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Germany.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years and love of his life, Betty Marie Pursel Kessler. They were married June 17, 1961.
In earlier years, he was a member of Pine Street Lutheran Church Danville PA.
Allen enjoyed traveling, boating and especially tinkering around his home. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his two grandchildren, both of whom he adored.
Allen will be remembered for being a good man. He enjoyed his simple life and spending it together with his wife. He was a hardworking man and was very loyal to all his jobs and extremely loyal to his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Alan Harry Kessler and his wife Millie of Watsontown PA. Also surviving are his two grandchildren, Bryce Kessler and his wife Natalie of Watsontown PA and Laura Daniels and her husband Patrick of Levittown, PA and several nieces and nephews and one brother-in-law, Harry Hilshillwood. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Kathryn Spaid, Marquerite Wynn and Charlotte Hilshillwood.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Allen’s Life to be held on Friday, January 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with his nephew, Woody Wolfe, officiating. Friends will be received from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM. Burial will follow in Columbia Hill Cemetery Danville PA with military rites accorded by the American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor Guard.
The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Hand Ministries, Inc. 799 E. Front Street Danville PA 17821-2121.
