Ann Carol (Yeaman) Malcolm passed away from natural causes on Thursday August 6th, 2026, after a period of declining health. She was born on January 7th, 1934, in Richmond, VA to parents Thomas Chernault and Virginia Ranson (Perkins) Yeaman.

She grew up studying art, piano, and dance in Richmond, followed her mother and father to the University of Richmond, graduating from Westhampton College in 1956, and spent her college summers as a counselor in girls’ camps in Virginia and New Hampshire. She pursued a graduate degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Auxiliary Medical Service. While there, her Richmond next door neighbors arranged for her to meet their nephew who was studying medicine at Thomas Jefferson University. The two clicked and John “Nick” Malcolm and Ann Carol were married in 1958.

Ann Carol founded three OT departments in the course of her early career, and when her growing family relocated to central PA from Denver, she tackled life on a rural farm with determination. While Nick worked long hours in the Pathology Department at Geisinger, she furnished a rambling Victorian farmhouse with finds from estate sales, planted a large garden, chased away intruding bats and varmints, and rallied the family to corral frequently escaping horses and cattle.

When the demands of farm and family made practicing OT difficult, Ann Carol became a committed volunteer, chairing several iterations of The Geisinger Fair, ultimately becoming President of the PA Association of Hospital Auxiliaries, serving on the board of the PA Health Systems Agency, and chairing Danville’s Revitalization Committee.

Ann Carol was a passionate advocate for preserving local history, leading to sometimes contentious efforts to protect West Market Street as Danville’s new bridge was being planned, and passionately participating in the Danville Iron Heritage festivals.

In 1984, at 50, she reinvented herself professionally, launching the Wee Home Shoppe in downtown Danville. For the next 26+ years Ann Carol guided many hundreds of enthusiasts and hobbyists in dollhouse and miniature building construction, as well as room box creation. She loved helping students of all ages create special projects with the myriad of miniature building supplies in her shoppe. She led workshops in a wide array of miniature arenas, from making food and toys from polymer clay, to building exotic African porch kits, producing custom fireplaces, and crafting miniature garden sheds. She was an expert in dollhouse lighting and had solutions for miniature enthusiasts of all skill levels and abilities.

Music was woven through every period of her life. Ann Carol’s love affair with the piano began in childhood. She read sheet music and had a gift for playing by ear. She served as the choir director at Grove Presbyterian Church (Danville) for over 25 years and challenged her dedicated choir to sing difficult classical and contemporary pieces in addition to standard anthems and hymns. Ann Carol adored sing-alongs and orchestrated them at parties, holiday gatherings, and in local senior homes. She made grandson Truman’s wedding special by playing Clair de Lune at the service.

Ann Carol will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her three children (Ann, with wife Cindy; John, with husband Rob; and Becky), four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren as well as brother Thomas C. Yeaman Jr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dr. John Malcolm Jr, and grandson Cayman Naib.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Ann’s Life to be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Grove Presbyterian Church, 376 Bloom St., Danville, PA with the Reverend Lisa Kraus officiating. Friends will be received from 9:00-9:45am. Burial will follow in the Grove Presbyterian Memorial Garden.
