Obituary For Anna Rea Walters

Anna Rea Walters, 79, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at her residence. She was born on December 7, 1943, in Danville, PA; the daughter of the late John Lewis and Rea (Murphy) Johns.

Anna graduated from Danville Area High School in 1962.

She was married to her loving husband of 56 years, the late Harry A. Walters. They were married on May 5, 1962.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Danville and Southside Fire Company, Riverside.

Anna was employed by Geisinger Medical Center as a CNA and a tech retiring in 1999.

Anna was a pillar of strength and an inspiration to those around her. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her nurturing nature made her excel in her chosen career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She dedicated her life to caring for others, working tirelessly in the medical industry to bring comfort and healing to those in need.

Outside of her professional life, Anna found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. Fishing was her favorite pastime, where she would spend hours by the peaceful lake, casting her line and basking in the tranquility of nature. Her love for baking was renowned among family and friends, who eagerly awaited her delicious creations and the warmth of her kitchen. Additionally, Anna had a green thumb, finding great joy tending to her garden, effortlessly turning soil and seeds into vibrant blooms that filled her world with beauty. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State fan. Anna loves helping and taking care of others. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter; Christine Walters of Watsontown, PA and two sons; Wesley Walters of Danville, PA and Michael Walters and his wife Kelly of Danville, PA. Anna is also survived by four grandchildren; Chloe, Jarrett, Logan, and Mikella as well as three sisters; Shirley Bryer of Riverside, Judy Macklemore, and Linda Kirkwood; both of Louisiana. She is also survived by one brother; Donald Johns of Danville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband; Anna was preceded in death by one grandson; Wesley Scott Walters in 2000 as well as two brothers and a sister; Robert Lewis, Steve Lewis and Peg McHenry. She was also preceded in death by John and Etta Lewis and Ira and Rea Johns, who raised her from a very young age.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Anna’s Life to be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 11:00AM at First Baptist Church, 12 Brookside Drive, Danville, PA 17821 with Reverend Dawes J. Dunham officiating. Friends will be received from 9:00AM-10:45AM. Burial will follow in St. Paul Straub’s Lutheran Cemetery, Danville.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
