Obituary For Audress H. Hinkle

Audress H. Hinkle, 88, of Riverside, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville. She was born on July 28, 1936, in Ralpho Township, PA, the daughter of the late Jesse K. and Bertha (Reeder) Ford.

Audress graduated from Ralpho Township High School in 1954.

She was married to her devoted husband, the late Ralph Eugene Hinkle, whom she would celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary this year. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2025. They were married April 23, 1955.

Audress was employed as a psychiatric aide at the Danville State Hospital from where she retired.

She was an active member of the Roaring Creek Valley United Methodist Church, Catawissa. Audress was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the Red Hat Society and the Danville State Hospital Employee Union.

A woman of many passions, Audress had a profound love for flowers, finding joy in their beauty. She delighted in exploring the world through bus trips and cherished attending music and gospel concerts. Annually, she looked forward to the performances at Sight and Sound, where her heart was often filled with joy and inspiration. In the kitchen, Audress was known for her talent in canning, particularly her delicious red beets and homemade jams, which she lovingly prepared for the monthly charity breakfasts at her church. Her baking, especially her treasured cookies, brought smiles to many and were often shared with friends and family alike. Audress was also a former member of the Danville Moose Bowling League, where she enjoyed the camaraderie of her fellow bowlers. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Swartz of Elysburg, PA and three sons: Jeffrey Hinkle and his wife SuAnn of Northumberland, PA; Richard Hinkle and his wife Marcie of Old Orchard Beach, Maine and Glenn Hinkle and his wife Lori of Riverside, PA Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Ralph Hinkle III, Samuel Hinkle, Robert Cooper, Jamie Fegley, Justina Hinkle, Alyssa Hinkle, Haylee Hinkle, and Adrienne Goudy as well as 8 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Hinkle, Jr. in September of 2004 as well as three siblings, Norman Ford, Edith Barnhart and Amos Ford.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Audress’s Life to be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:30am at Roaring Creek Valley United Methodist Church, with the Pastor Kym Eichelberger officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00am until 11:15am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
