Obituary For Bernice Helen Gross
Bernice Helen Gross, 88, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. She was born on September 5, 1936, in Danville, PA, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Mainzer) Klein.
Bernice graduated from Danville Area High School.
She was married to her devoted husband, Jack Leroy Gross, Sr. for 69 years. They were married on September 4, 1954.
Bernice was a devoted homemaker for most of her life. She worked part-time as a clerk for Grants, a cook at the Danville Junior High School and for Geisinger Medical Center, from where she retired.
She was a member of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, Elysburg.
Bernice enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren, baking and cooking for her family, and worked tirelessly for any need she saw that needed to be done. Two of her favorite past times included embroidery and mowing the lawn. She will be remembered for her work ethic and unfailing love for her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by two sons; William J. Gross and his wife Ann of Danville and Jack L. Gross, Jr. and his wife, Marie of Winfield PA. and two daughters; Mary Ann Davis and Lee Ann Pegg and her husband, Robert, of Danville. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Bernice is also survived by one sister; Marie James of Pennsylvania Furnace. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in November 2023. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; William Klein and Carl Klein and two sisters; Dorothy Starr and Florence Styer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Bernice’s Life to be held on, Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church, 599 West Center Street, Elysburg, PA 17824 with Father Joseph Scanlin as Celebrant. Friends will be received from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Danville, PA.
