Obituaries

Charles E. VanHorn, 76, of Danville, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at his residence. He was born on August 3, 1948, in Bloomsburg, PA, the only child of the late Gerald and Edna (Wolverton) VanHorn.

Charles graduated from Bloomsburg Area High School in 1966.

He was self-employed at his business, C & C Construction of Danville, PA. He also worked alongside the Paugh family as a Property Manager for Speedex Industries.

Charles was a member of Washington Fire and Hose Company #2 (Washies), Danville and the former Rescue Fire Company, Danville.

He had a passion for cars and loved attending car shows as well as putting on awesome flame throwing shows throughout the Northeast car shows with his close friends and club, Flames-R-Us. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. He cherished his family as well as his close friends, the Paugh family. He was an avid animal lover and loved spending time with his furry dog companion, Lola Rae.

He is survived by seven children; Chuck VanHorn and his wife Jody of Danville; Chris VanHorn and his wife Christina of Catawissa; Jimmy VanHorn of Philadelphia; Melissa Wilson of Mifflinburg and Marc and Andrea Wilson of Danville; Mary and Donald Kreisberg, Cranberry TWP; Lori Sides of Canal Fulton OH. Charles is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion, Beatrice Wilson in 2019.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Charles’s Life on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2:00PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 42 W. Mahoning St., Danville, PA 17821 with Pastor Greg Molter officiating. Friends will be received from 12:00PM to 1:45PM. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Care Center, 74 Schoolhouse Road, Danville, PA 17821.
