Obituary For Clair T. Stump

Clair T. Stump, 87, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. He was born on March 8, 1937, in Limestoneville, PA, the son of the late Arthur and Clarabelle Tipler Stump.

He graduated from Danville High School in 1955.

Clair is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Nancy J. Seidel Stump. They were married June 27, 1957.

He was employed as a Class III Structural Engineer for over 50 years at Kennedy Van Saun in Danville PA which involved traveling to 18 countries, from where he retired in 2002.

Clair was a member of the Washingtonville Lutheran Church. His other memberships included the Danville Masonic Lodge #224 where he served as past Master and the Susquehanna Rod and Gun Club. He was a lifetime member of the Continental Fire Company.

One of his greatest enjoyments was hunting and fishing. He enjoyed following the Danville Football Team, the Danville Wrestling Team and was an avid Eagles football fan.

He will be remembered as a great storyteller always adding “a little extra”. His demeanor was always soft, quiet and kind. He enjoyed talking to people wherever life would take him. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. A beloved friend, devoted family member, and esteemed colleague, Clair's impact reached far and wide, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who crossed his path.

He is survived by three sons: Timber R. Stump and his wife Kim of Stroudsburg PA, Branche R. Stump and his wife Debbie of Danville, PA and Forest T. Stump and his wife Anita of Quarryville, PA and one daughter, Lori A. Hancock of Danville, PA. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers: Lee, Harry, Collins, Tony and Marvin Stump.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside Celebration of Life to be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Washingtonville Cemetery in Washingtonville, PA with Linda L. Wagner as celebrant

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Washingtonville Lutheran Church 80 Strawberry Ridge Road Danville PA 17821.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how you must be feeling. Poppy will be greatly missed. He was a wonderful father-in-law and was like a second dad to me. I have so many happy memories of the time I spent with him. I can't imagine this world without him. Our love, Ruby, Samantha, Brett
