Obituary For Clyde Forrest Getz, Sr.

Clyde Forrest Getz, Sr., 83, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 13, 2024. He was born July 27, 1940, in Danville, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Giberson) Getz.

Clyde graduated from Penn Tech College in Williamsport.

He was married for 63 years to his loving wife Mary Alice (Hawk) Getz. They were married on May 6, 1961.

Clyde was employed as a machinist at KVS, TRW and Textron in Danville for several years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Danville and a lifetime member of the Danville Moose and East End Fire Company, Danville.

Throughout his life, Clyde found peace in tending to his gardens and crafting beautiful pieces in his wood shop. His passion for woodworking was rivaled only by his warm smile and quick wit. Those who knew him will forever cherish his sense of humor, unwavering work ethic, and remarkable tenacity. One of his greatest joys in life was hosting the Getz/Hawk family corn roast each year and time spent with family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons; Clyde Getz Jr. of Dover York; Charles and his husband Tony of Omaha, NE and Craig Getz of Danville and twin granddaughters; Kylie and Kelsey of Omaha, NE. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by five brothers: Horton, Henry, John, Harold, and William along with three sisters, Gertrude, Edith, and Eleanor and one grandson, Christopher.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Clyde’s Life to be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 11:00AM at First Baptist Church, 12 Brookside Dr. (Route 642 East), Danville, PA, with the Reverend Dawes J. Dunham officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00-10:45am. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery Columbarium.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
