Donald G. “Donnie” Bordner, 76, of Danville PA passed away peacefully on October 17, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville PA. He was born November 29, 1946, in Dornsife PA, the son of the late Guy W. Bordner and Jean G. Yohe Bordner of Dornsife PA, who survives.

Donnie served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era from 1966-1967.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Shirley M. Scheetz Bordner. They were married September 18, 1976. Their union was a testament to their unwavering love and devotion to one another, and their journey together was filled with cherished memories and a deep sense of companionship.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Red Cross. His other memberships included the International Harvester Collectors Club Chapter 17 and the PA Farm Bureau.

Donnie was employed as a trucker for Luke Troutman Trucking and was employed by Meckley’s Limestone of Herndon spreading lime for all local farmers for 42 years. Since 1976, he farmed his wife’s homestead as well as surrounding farms.

He enjoyed farming with his grandsons, cultivating crops and pouring his heart into every field he farmed. He also enjoyed hunting, antiquing, and collecting International Harvester tractors.

He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a man’s man with a kind heart. He always had a twinkle in his eyes as he gently teased and joked with you. He would drop everything to help anyone. He was very proud of his family and never missed a chance to tell anyone who would listen about them. He lived honestly and with integrity. He was greatly loved and will be so very missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters; Robyn Danneker and her husband, John of Danville, PA and Jennifer Distasio of Mechanicsburg, PA and one daughter-in-law; Rhonda Bordner of Danville PA; two grandsons, Jacob and Matthew Danneker and two granddaughters, Shana and Shannen Bordner. Also surviving are two sisters: Sheri Mauser and her husband William of Millersburg PA and Diane Wilkinson of Dornsife PA. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

He was preceded in death by one son; Shayne M. Bordner who passed away January 5, 2017.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Donnie’s Life to be held on Saturday October 28, 2023, at 11:30 AM at Rush Baptist Church 410 Rushtown Road Danville PA with the Reverend Robert Horne officiating. Friends will be received from 9:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the church. Burial will be private. Military rights will be accorded by the American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard and the United States Army Honor Guard.
