Obituary For Dorothy C. VonBlohn

Dorothy C. VonBlohn, 89, of Danville, PA; passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at her home. She was born August 9, 1933, in Danville, PA; the daughter of the late Wilbur and Hilda (Heimmiller) Raup.

Dorothy graduated from Danville Area High School in 1951.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Gerald “Max” VonBlohn, Jr. of 70 years. They were married August 16, 1952

Dorothy was employed as a seamstress with Danville Manufacturing, Joville and MarCraft.

She was a member of St. James United Church of Christ, Ridgeville, PA, and a former member of the Danville Moose Women’s bowling league.

Dorothy enjoyed putting puzzles together and watching NASCAR, especially Jimmy Johnson and the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr. She also enjoyed camping, playing shuffleboard, Yahtzee and collecting crystal doves.

Dorothy touched so many lives with her sweet, gentle soul and always had a thoughtful presence wherever she was. Most of all, she will be remembered as a devoted mother to her children. She loved her family. who will greatly miss her kind and loving spirit.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children; Gerry VonBlohn, III of Elysburg, PA; Jeff VonBlohn (Julie) of Danville; Tom VonBlohn (Deb) of Danville; and Sue Chrysler of Danville, PA. Dorothy was also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two brother- in-laws; Larry VonBlohn of Dallas, Texas and Dean VonBlohn of Danville, PA and one sister in-law Ruth Raup.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy, Lisa VonBlohn; one son- in-law, Scott Chrysler; and one daughter- in-law; Charlene VonBlohn as well as two brothers; James Raup and Donald Raup and four sisters; Eleanor Wray, June Livziey, Margaret Raup and Joanne Reibsome.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
