Dorothy J. Myers, 86, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 6, 1937, in Danville, PA, the daughter of the late Walter Fry and Dorothy G (Cashner) Fry.

Dorothy graduated from Danville Area High School in 1955.

She was married to her devoted husband of 63 years, Robert M. Myers, on June 25, 1960.

Dorothy was employed by Montour Mutual Insurance as a secretary from where she retired.

She attended Danville God’s Missionary Church of Danville, PA.

Dorothy enjoyed gardening, baking, and cooking and loved to play the piano. She also loved to sew especially creating outfits for her children. Dorothy was an avid reader acquiring knowledge of the Amish. Her greatest enjoyment in life was taking care of her children and grandson.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters; Sherry Simon, and Catherine Billhime and her husband Eugene, both of Danville, PA, and Ellen Shirley of Alabama and one son, David Myers of Danville, PA. She is also survived by one sister; Louise Blue of Elizabethville, PA and one grandson, Matthew Shirley. Dorothy is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one son: Robert Myers, Jr., two sons-in law, Roy Simon, Jr., and Terry Shirley.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Dorothy on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Danville God’s Missionary Church, 510 East Front Street, Danville, PA 17821 with Pastor Nathan Yohe officiating. Friends will be received from 11:30am-12:45pm at the church.
