Obituary For Douglas W. Riley

Douglas W. Riley, 69, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at his residence. He was born on May 22, 1956, in Danville, PA, the son of the late Lewis Riley, Jr and Helen Swentz Riley.

He attended Danville High School.

Doug would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on December 6th to the love of his life, Connie L. Hilkert Riley. They were married on December 6, 1975.

He was employed by PP&L/Talen Energy for 36 years, from where he retired.

Doug was an avid fisherman and had a great enjoyment working on cars. His greatest enjoyment in sports was watching his grandchildren play their own sports. He will be remembered as a loving and dedicated father and husband. His legacy will live on in the many lives he positively influenced, particularly those of his loved ones.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Stacie Holdinsky and her husband Thomas of Middletown Delaware and two grandchildren: Lucas G. and Lillian E. Holdinsky, all of whom he cherished. He is also survived by one brother, Mikel Riley (Sharon) and two sisters: Cindy Vought (Marlin) and Tracy Riley (Chadd Cornelius). In addition, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Betty Hilkert; his sisters-in-law: Karen Rowe (Kim) and Nancy Snyder (Guy); one brother-in-law, Roy Day; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy in 2001 and his father-in-law Leroy Hilkert and sister-in-law, Theresa Day.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church 68 Center Street Danville, PA at 11:00 AM with Father Charles Ocul as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society online at www.heart.org.

    Countless fun trips to the beach with family and friends. Some great fishing trips with our boys in their youth. We will all miss him, but keep the great memories.
