Obituary For Dylan J. Slusser

Dylan J. Slusser, 22, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024, from Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy. Born on October 4, 2001, and raised in Danville, Dylan graduated from Danville High School in 2021.

Dylan never let his illness get in the way of what he loved, video games, movies, swimming, and spending time with family. Dylan’s laughter was contagious. His smile and easygoing attitude touched the hearts of everyone he met. Dylan's hobbies and interests included collecting bobble heads, Legos, Superheroes, and knowing everything there was to know about every movie and actor.

In his early years Dylan lived with his mother, brother and sister in several places. He traveled frequently with them to Disney World, Mardi-Gras, and visiting distant relatives. Later in life, he was cared for by his grandparents, Brian and Melissa Shoop in their home, which better accommodated his needs. He called Brian his Papa and his “Superhero.”

Dylan was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Joyce Shoop, and great-grandmother Judy Cuccia, both of whom he loved very much.

Dylan is survived by his mother, Brenda Shoop, and partner, Carlos Lopez; sister Isabella Shoop, brother Angel Rodas; sister-aunt Camille Rohrer; aunts Samantha Johnson, Cassie Lindenfeld, and Katie Frymoyer; uncles Collin Shoop, Jon Shoop, and Alex Lindenfeld; siblings Kaydn Martz, Noah and Adra Samsel, and Zavian Slusser; grandparents Brian and Melissa Shoop; and many more cousins, friends, and loved ones.

His spirit will live on in the countless hearts he has touched. May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all. Dylan’s light will forever shine brightly in our hearts, guiding us with his enduring love and happiness.

A Celebration of Dylan’s life will be held at Visneski Funeral Home, 42 W. Mahoning St. Danville PA on Saturday, April 6 at 2:00pm. Friends will be received from 12:30pm until 1:45pm.
