Obituary For Edward D. Kovaleskie, Jr.
Edward D. Kovaleskie, Jr., 80, of Danville, PA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Eddie, as he was known to many, was born on August 12, 1946, in Shamokin, PA, the son of the late Edward, Sr. and Helen (Miller) Kovaleskie.
He was a 1964 graduate of Coal Township High School. With the first love of his life, Irene Smutz, married for 23 years, they had a son Kevin. Eddie graduated from the Danville Licensed Practical Nursing Program in 1969, and the Geisinger Respiratory Therapy Program in 1971. He worked a majority of his working years at Geisinger Medical Center as a floor nurse, a medication nurse in the Neurophysiology Lab, and a Respiratory Therapist.
Following his divorce, Eddie then worked as an ICD 9 Coder in the Medical Records Department where he met the second love of his life, Tammy Robinson, of Bloomsburg. They were married in 1989. They enjoyed many years together, caring for each other with numerous trips to the shore until her untimely passing in 2006.
In his semiretirement years, Eddie worked in the Geisinger Gift Shop the Chalet Gift Shop at Knoebel’s Amusement Resort and the Arctic Express at the Bloomsburg Fair. He also volunteered numerous hours at the Good Samaritan Mission in Danville.
Eddie’s kind, friendly and giving nature was enjoyed by all who knew him. He was always ready with a helping hand, his joking, and playful side brought a smile to many. He will be dearly missed.
Eddie was a member of the Mooresburg Presbyterian Church, Danville. He was strong in his faith, opening each day in prayer.
In earlier years, he enjoyed attending Kevin’s numerous sporting and scouting events. Later in life, Eddie enjoyed going to yard sales, flea markets, going out to eat with his family and friends.
He enjoyed vacations at the shore, bus trips, being a weekly vendor at the Mount Carmel Farmer’s Market, listening to music of the sixties, especially the girl groups and watching old westerns on tv.
Eddie is survived by one son, Kevin and his fiancée, Stacie Swank; twin stepsisters, Ann Wadell and Ellen James and their families of South Carolina; one uncle, Carl “Tommy” Miller of Georgia”; three nephews, David, Chad and Shannon Erdman as well as his ex-wife and close friend, Irene Rife. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friend, Bonnie Adams and her son, Andrew.
In addition to his parents, and second wife, Tammy; Eddie was preceded in death by one sister and brother in-law, Marian and David Erdman.
In respect of Eddie’s personal wishes, no services will be held.
