Obituary For Eleanor Patricia Keehan

Eleanor Paticia Keehan, 89 of Danville, PA went to the Lord on August 3rd, 2024. She was born on December 4, 1934 in Amsterdam, New York, the daughter of Aloysius and Catherine Syzdek. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, William John Keehan, who passed away in September 2000.

Eleanor devoted her life to her husband and raising their eight children in Fonda, NY. Later in life she was employed as a secretary for The Arc Lexington in Gloversville, NY until her retirement in 2009. During retirement she enjoyed spending the winters in Stuart, Florida and summers in Amsterdam, NY. She moved to Danville, PA in 2022 where she became an active member of the Maria Joseph Manor community.

Eleanor enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren at the family camp on the Sacandaga Lake in Broadalbin, NY and family summer vacations at the Outer Banks in Corolla, NC. Her favorite activities were time in the swimming pool socializing with other swimmers, reading and playing card and board games. Eleanor will be remembered most for her caring nature and placing the needs of others before her own.

She is survived by her eight children Carol Coyle (Columbia, SC) William Keehan (Stuart, FL), Matthew Keehan (Fonda, NY), Daniel Keehan (Danville, PA), Deanine Kowalski (Stuart, FL), Timothy Keehan (Atlanta, GA), Dawn Santon (Broadalbin, NY) and David Keehan (Colorado Springs, CO).

She is also survived by her sister Betty Fryc (Stuart, FL), and brothers Chet Syzdek (Spartanburg, SC) and Larry Syzdek (Albany, NY) as well as twenty nieces and nephews, eleven grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brother Anthony Syzdek.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday August 17, 2024, at Sacred Heart Church, 111 Third Avenue, Tribes Hill, NY 12177; followed by a graveside service at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Maria Joseph Continuing Care Community, 1707 Montour Boulevard, Danville, PA 17821.
