Obituary For Elizabeth A. Troup
Elizabeth A. “Libby” Troup, 94, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 19, 2025, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danville, PA. She was born on February 8, 1931, in Danville, PA, the daughter of the late Luther and Ethel Reedy Mader.
She graduated from Danville High School in 1948.
Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Troup, Jr. in 2001. They were married June 4, 1974, in Winchester, VA.
. She was employed as a receptionist at Geisinger Medical Center for many years and later employed as a cashier at Weis Market, from where she retired.
Libby was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Danville PA.
She was a talented seamstress making clothes and dolls. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, traveling with her sister and had a special love for animals.
Libby will be remembered for her strong independent spirit, sense of humor, her caring heart and being a “chocolate addict”. She was very engaged when talking with others. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; all of whom she adored.
She is survived by four sons: Gary L. Patterson and his wife Bonnie of Danville, PA, Terry A. Patterson and his wife Mae of St. Petersburg, FL, Steve P. Patterson and his wife Pat of Washingtonville, PA and Richard L. Patterson and his wife Ginger of Danville, PA and one daughter, Kathy A. Harris and her husband John of Bloomsburg PA. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Carol and one sister, Dottie, in infancy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Elizabeth’s Life on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at 11:00am at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 42 W. Mahoning St., Danville, PA with Reverend Trevor J. Hahn officiating. Friends will be received from 09:30am to 10:45am. Burial will follow in Wolf Crossroads Cemetery, Sunbury, PA.
The family will provide flowers. Because of her love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Danville SPCA 1467 Bloom Road Danville, PA 17821.
