Obituaries

Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Leedy, 95, of Riverside, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on March 15, 2023, at Grandview Health Homes in Danville, PA. She was born on October 16, 1927, the daughter of the late Frank and Florence Crouse.

Betty graduated from Danville High School in 1943 and Bloomsburg State Teacher’s College in 1949.

She was married to her husband, the late Robert C. Leedy who passed away on August 24, 2002. They were married in June of 1952.

Betty was employed as an English and Latin teacher in Wellsboro, Trevorton and the Danville Area School District, from where she retired.

She was a member of the Shiloh United Church of Christ, Danville, the Daughter’s of the American Colonists, the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of the Montour County Historical Society.

Betty enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling to Sturbridge, Massachusetts.

Betty will be remembered for her love of life and her humorous spirit.

She is survived by one nephew, William J. Smith, and his wife Mary of Scranton, PA and one niece Roberta E. Geiger of Danville PA and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Also surviving are her dear friends, Larry and Janet Weidman of Georgia.

Betty was preceded in death by one brother Frank Crouse, Jr.

Graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
