Elizabeth M. “Betz” Geiger Sweely, 92, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 5, 2025, at the Grandview Nursing Home in Danville, PA. She was born on March 31, 1933, in Mount Zion, PA, the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Evans Jones.

She graduated from Edwardsville High School and from Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing.

She was married for 28 years to the late Robert E. Geiger who died in 1981. She was married later to Russell T. Sweely who died April 13, 2009.

Betz was employed as a Registered Nurse at Geisinger Medical Center in General Nursing. She was the Director of IV Therapy at Geisinger for many years and then founded VITALine Home Infusion Therapy in Danville, PA. Her passion for nursing was matched only by her compassion for her patients.

Betz was a woman of profound faith and was actively engaged in many local churches throughout her life, finding her current spiritual home at Paxinos Bible Church. She also made significant contributions to her community as the past president of the Danville Rotary and on the Board of Directors at Service First Credit Union. Her legacy of service and kindness will not be forgotten. She enjoyed playing the piano, knitting, traveling and SHOPPING. She had a deep love for her dogs and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Betz will be remembered for her loving and caring heart. She was an intelligent lady and a dedicated Mom with a little feistiness now and then and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by one son Robert B. Geiger and his fiancé Kathy Linn of Danville, PA and one daughter, Sue Ann Stauffer and her husband Steven of Bloomsburg, PA. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Rob, Nicole, Ryan and Marlena as well as three step-grandchildren: Shawn, Billie Jo and Jennifer as well several great-grandchildren. One niece and one nephew also survive her.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Harry Robert Jones and David Jones.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Betz’s Life to be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Paxinos Bible Church 415 Montour Blvd., Paxinos, PA with Pastor Mark Powlus officiating. Friends will be received from 12:00 PM – 12:45 PM at the church. Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park in Sunbury, PA.
