Gary Francis Patrick Neidig, Sr.,70, of Shamokin, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Geisinger-Shamokin Hospital. He was born in Shamokin Hospital, Coal Township, PA on July 2, 1955, the son of the late Robert “Fluff” Neidig and Elsie Bresadola (Koronkiewicz). He was subsequently raised for most of his childhood by Shirley Boyer Neidig.

Gary attended Catholic school and then proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He was employed by many manufacturing companies including Ashland Metals and Alumo.

Gary was an active member of the West End Fire Company in Shamokin, PA.

He was an avid fisherman. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. He was especially fond of his feline companion, “Kitty”.

He is survived by one son, Robert W. Neidig of Danville, PA and one daughter, Diane Kayes (Ronald) of Shenandoah Heights, PA. Also surviving are four brothers: Steve Neidig (Dot) of Elysburg, PA, Keith Neidig (Paula) of Aristes, PA, Robert Neidig (Janet) of New Cumberland PA and Lou Wilson (Megan) of Locust Gap, PA and one sister, Kelly Reigle of Ashland, PA. He is also survived numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gary was preceded by the untimely death by one son, Gary F. Neidig, Jr. December 4, 2009.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Interment on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA, where Military Rites will be accorded by the United States Honor Guard.
