Obituary For Grace Cady
Grace Cady, 89, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, March 4, 2024, at her residence. She was born on July 22, 1934, in Delano, PA; a daughter of the late John and Ruby (Foose) Dougherty.
Grace attended Delano High School and graduated from Mahanoy Township High School. She also graduated from the Hazleton State Hospital of Nursing.
She was married to her loving husband of 23 years, Joseph Cady.
Grace was employed by the Danville State Hospital as Psychiatric Nursing Supervisor from where she retired.
Grace enjoyed making and decorating cakes, playing the card game “hand and foot” as often as she could and spending time at her beach home in Woodbine, New Jersey. She absolutely loved Wawa hoagies at the beach! Grace would also joke about who was the most stubborn in her family- her or her brother John (Doc). Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Grace is survived by two sons; Mark Zamboni (Pat) and Jeff Zamboni, both of Danville. She is also survived by one sister, June Arnold of Northampton, PA; two grandsons; Anthony Zamboni and Michael Reichard and one aunt; Gertrude Sandova. Grace is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil; a brother, John (Doc) Dougherty; a sister, Anne Marie (Dougherty) Kisella and numerous aunts with whom she was raised.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 68 Center Street, Danville, PA with Father Timothy Marcoe as celebrant. Friends will be received from 10:00-10:45AM in St. Hubert’s Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Danville.
