Obituary For Irvin Leon Snyder

Irvin Leon Snyder, 88, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at his residence. He was born on July 10, 1937, in Monroe Township, PA, the son of the late Henry J. and Verdia (Roush) Snyder.

He served his country with honor in the United Stated Army from April of 1955 to April of 1958, achieving the rank of Specialist 3rd Class (SP3) as well as receiving Rifle Marksman, Sharpshooter and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was married to his loving wife, Carolyn L. Snyder, who preceded him in death on March 18, 2024. They were married on December 5, 1987.

Irvin's life was marked by hard work and commitment. In his younger years, he helped his family by selling produce and Christmas trees. He then became a dock worker for Fullmer’s and drove truck for his late brother,Elwood Snyder, at Delmot Motor Express and Al’s Leasing of New York. His remarkable career culminated in 50 years of dedicated service at Hawkins Chevrolet, where he was respected and admired by colleagues and customers alike.

He was a member of Community Christian Church of Vicksburg, PA and Central PA Teamsters.

Irvin found joy in family gatherings. He found happiness in traveling and creating cherished memories with friends and family. His deep faith played a central role in his life, and he actively participated in church activities, steadfast in his commitment to his beliefs and community.

He is survived by Pauline (Stanley Sr.) St. Clair of Lewisburg; Verda (William) Keefer, and Irene (Timothy) Welsh both of Danville as well as four stepchildren; Eugene Jenkins of Milton, Charles Jenkins of Danville, Renna (James) Fausey of Danville and Neil Jenkins of Danville. Irvin is also survived by nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and five step great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, Irvin was preceded in death by one son, Irvin (Sonny) Snyder, Jr.; one grandson, Jason Snyder, and several brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Irvin’s Life to be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 12:00PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 42 West Mahoning Street, Danville, PA with the Reverend Marc Snyder officiating. Friends will be received from 10:30am until 11:45am. Burial will be private at St. Paul (Straub’s) Lutheran Church Cemetery, Danville.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
