Obituary For Jo Ellen Lynn

Jo Ellen Lynn, 57, a devoted sister, aunt, coach and friend, of Danville PA, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA.

She was born October 9, 1969, in Danville, PA, the daughter of the late Walter J. and Helen C. Kmiecinski Lynn.

Jo Ellen graduated from Danville High School in 1988, proudly lettering in three sports---Softball, Basketball and Field Hockey which was a reflection of her lifelong passion for athletics, teamwork and community.

After high school, Jo began her career with Montour County Transit before joining Geisinger, where she worked as a Buyer in the Purchasing Department. She remained a dedicated member of the Geisinger family through the present.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Danville PA, and a supporting member of all the area fire companies (Continental, East End, Washies, Good Will) and a social member of the Moose, always showing up where community mattered most.

Jo Ellen was a vibrant and cherished soul who brought light and laughter to everyone she encountered. Known for her infectious spirit and her ability to find joy in the little things, she turned everyday moments into cherished memories. Whether it was her contagious laughter during family gatherings or her warm hugs that made the world feel just a little bit brighter, she had an innate ability to uplift everyone around her

Her love of sports continued long after her own playing days. Jo Ellen became one of the area’s most beloved Little League softball and pitching coaches. Coaching softball—especially alongside her best friend Kelly—was one of Jo’s greatest joys. When her niece Ashleigh decided she wanted to pitch at age ten, she turned to her Aunt Jo—and together they began a journey that never stopped. Watching Ashleigh pitch in All‑Stars became one of Jo Ellen’s proudest moments.

She was well known for her famous wings and homemade sauces, happily cooking for any occasion and any crowd. She was an avid Bowler and frequently enjoyed Bingo around the area (she despised G46). More than anything, Jo was the person people called when they needed help—family, friends, or anyone who crossed her path. Her door, her heart, and her time were always open. Jo Ellen's legacy is one of generosity, loyalty, humor, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by her loving siblings: Diane Haines (Mark), Janet Dennen (Chris), and Greg Lynn (Monica); all of Danville, PA. She was the proud aunt of one niece, Ashleigh, and four nephews—Zachary, Alan, Travis, and Trevor—She followed their lives with pride, celebrated their accomplishments, and supported them with the fierce love only an aunt like Jo Ellen could give.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Lynn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Father Kenneth Roth as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Danville, PA. Friends will be received from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday evening, October 27, 2026, at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA and on Wednesday from 9:30 – 10:45 AM in St. Hubert Chapel at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

There are no words to describe our life without JoJo in it. She was the sunshine on the darkest days and the rainbow during the rain showers. Her laughter was infectious and "bubbly" disposition had no end. Shell, I and our family were so lucky to have her in our lives and will be sorely missed. Janet, Greg, Daine and family, please accept our deepest condolences on your lost. Shelly and Steve
