Obituary For Joan Mida Finn
Joan Mida Finn, 93, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 1, 2026, at her residence. She was born on February 27, 1933, in Ashley, PA, the daughter of the late William L. and Tegwen Williams Walters.
Joan graduated from Ashley High School in Ashley, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, Jerome A. Finn. They were married June 13, 1953.
Joan was co-owner, along with her husband, of Finn’s News Agency in Danville, PA for 40 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. A very active member of the community, she was also a member of Soroptimists and Frosty Valley Country Club.
Joan’s greatest joy was dancing with her husband. She also enjoyed Bridge and Pinocle, golfing and traveling with her husband and her friends. Her hospitality was unsurpassed, always entertaining friends and family with her delicious cooking and baking.
A very strong and selfless woman, Joan will be remembered for her loving, generous and kind spirit. She will be remembered by many for being the epitome of a “lady” in her dress and her countenance. She was well known for three generations for handing out Tootsie Rolls to children and dog biscuits to dogs at the News Agency. Joan's journey through life was marked by resilience, love, and an unwavering spirit that touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by two sons: Jerome J. Finn and his wife Karen and Trevor S. Finn and his wife Betsy; both of Danville, PA and two daughters: Joan M. Yost and Coleen Wagner and her husband Glenn; both of Lewisburg, PA. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five siblings, one son-in-law, Charles Yost and the untimely death of one granddaughter, Kristie Lynn Wagner in 2019.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Father Kenneth Roth as celebrant. Friends will be received in St. Hubert’s Hall from 9:00 – 10:45 AM. The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Danville-Riverside Food Bank 512 Bloom Street Danville, PA 17821.
