Obituary For Jody Lee Appleman

Jody Lee Appleman, 74, of Danville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on June 20, 2023, at Grandview Nursing Home in Danville PA. She was born on June 14, 1949, in Danville, PA, the daughter of the late John Vansickle and Pearl Moyer VanSickle.

Jody graduated from Danville High School in 1967

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Carl L. Appleman. They would have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary on July 19th.

Jody was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Geisinger Medical Center, from where she retired in 2014.

She was a member of the Danville VFW Women’s Auxiliary where she served as President for eight years and Legion Unit 40 Auxiliary.

Jody enjoyed bowling and softball and was an avid pool player. She lived her life with dignity and grace and will be remembered for her relentless work ethic and her independent spirit, which she consistently encouraged her daughters to have also. Jody adored her grandchildren, and her family knew that she was their biggest supporter. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters; Tara Gainey and Erica L. Cameron (Michael); both of Pittsburgh PA and one stepson, Carl Appleman, Jr of Danville PA. Also surviving is one brother, Thomas VanSickle (Maggie) of Riverside PA. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Isiah Jackson, Alexis Jackson, Jalen Mortimer, Dominique Mortimer, Déja Cameron, Connor Appleman, Quinlyn Appleman and Addyson Appleman. She was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Lynne Appleman on September 19, 2021 and one brother, James VanSickle.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Jody’s Life on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with Linda L. Wagner as Funeral Celebrant. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM. Inurnment will follow in Odd Fellows Columbarium Danville PA.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Danville SPCA 1467 Bloom Road Danville PA 17821.
