Obituary For John "Jack" D. Hack

John D. “Jack” Hack,84, a lifelong resident of Danville PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Nottingham Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northumberland, PA. He was born on July 9, 1940, in Danville, PA, the son of the late Warren D. and Sarah Kreigh Hack.

He attended Danville Schools.

He was married for 62 years to his devoted wife Joann G. Depew Hack. They were married on October 6, 1962.

Jack was employed as a longtime mechanic for PennDOT, from where he retired.

He was a lifetime member of the Danville Elks and was a member of the Danville Moose. In his younger years, he was a social member of many area fire companies.

Jack was an avid hunter and thoroughly enjoyed camping. He was a fan of NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions.

He will be remembered as an excellent mechanic, his selfless disposition and his devoted love for his family

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Michael J. Hack, Sr. and his significant other, Teresa Hartzell of Shenandoah Heights, PA and Darren W. Hack and his wife Sandra of Brookville, PA and one daughter, Debbie Hack of Catawissa PA and her significant other, Mike Girton.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as one sister, Ruth Petrikis of Medford, Delaware. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Anna Faux and Mary Neidig.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Jack’s Life to be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with the Reverend John Shaw officiating assisted by Pastor Harry Harter. Friends will be received from 10:00 – 10:45 AM. Burial will follow in Straub’s Lutheran Cemetery, Danville, PA.

The family would like to thank the staff of Nottingham Village for their understanding and excellent care.
