Obituary For Joseph Edward McDermott

Joseph Edward McDermott, 64, of York PA and formerly of Danville PA passed away on December 12, 2024, at his residence. He was born October 13, 1960, in Danville PA the son of the late James C. and Catherine T. Mutchler McDermott.

He graduated from Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech.

He was employed by Talen Energy in York PA for over 20 years, from where he retired. He previously worked at PP&L with the Instrument and Controls Engineering Work Group, the Health Physics Department, the Nuclear Quality Assurance Engineering Work Group and the Electrical and Structural Construction. He also worked at Strick Corporation and St. Cyril Academy in Danville PA.

Joe loved animals and he also loved traveling.

He will be remembered for his exuberant personality and his love for people. His greatest enjoyment was his family, all of whom he adored.

He is survived by three brothers: James C. McDermott, Jr. of South Carolina; Daniel McDermott of Danville, PA and Howard McDermott of Florida and two sisters: Catherine T. McDermott of Danville PA and Elaine M. Komara of Johnstown, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church 68 Center Street Danville PA with Father Timothy Marcoe officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Danville SPCA 1467 Bloom Road Danville PA 17821.
