Obituary For Judith A. Rogowsky

Judith A. Rogowsky, 80, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 5, 2023, at Geisinger Medical Center. She was born August 5, 1943, in Bloomsburg, PA, the daughter of the late Charles R. and Louise I. Frederick Harder.

Judy graduated from Danville High School in 1961.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 34 years, Stephen Rogowsky who passed away October 30, 2001. They were married on April 26, 1967.

Judy was a compassionate woman who dedicated her life to nurturing children. She pursued her passion for childcare and became a self-employed daycare provider in Danville, PA for many years, retiring in 2004. Her genuine warmth made her a beloved figure in the lives of the many children she cared for throughout her career.

Judy was a member of Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1957.

Because of her love for children, Judy and her husband opened their home to numerous foster children. She enjoyed shopping and traveling to Sarasota, Florida during the winters between 2005-2008. Throughout her life, Judy exuded kindness and generosity to everyone she encountered. Her friends and community members will fondly remember her as a compassionate soul, always ready with a listening ear and a comforting presence.

She is survived by two daughters: Stefanie Oberdorf and her husband Scott of Danville, PA, and Beth Rogowsky of Bloomsburg, PA, as well as one granddaughter, Madison Oberdorf of Danville, PA, all of whom will be forever touched by Judy’s unwavering love and support. Judy’s memory will be kept alive through the treasured moments they all shared as a family.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Kevin Harder, who passed away on March 30, 1996, at the age of 41.

A viewing will be held at the Pine Street Evangelical Lutheran Church, 621 Pine Street, Danville, PA on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 2:30 PM until 3:45 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Judy’s Life immediately following at 4:00 PM with Pastor Jason Clapper officiating as well as her daughter, Beth, delivering her eulogy. Burial will be private at the family’s convenience in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to an educational fund to support Madison Louise Oberdorf’s college fund which was a priority in Judy’s life. Contributions may be mailed to Beth Rogowsky, 2 Bittersweet Drive, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 with “Madison’s College Fund” written in the memo line.
