Obituary For Karen Ruth (Freezer) May

Karen Ruth Freezer May, 78, of Danville PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home. She was born on April 2, 1947, in Wellsboro, PA, the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Dahlgren) Freezer.

Karen graduated from Danville High School in 1965 as well as completing cosmetology school prior to graduation. She became Assistant to the Dean of College of Business at Bloomsburg State College before meeting the love of her life, Randy, and later was his partner in Pinebrook Homes and in managing Country Meeting Christmas Tree Plantation and her antique shop on their Rush Township farm.

She was devoted to her love of God, her daughter, her grandchildren, her caregiver Linda Morris, and most especially, to Randy, her husband of 52 years. In the words of her husband, “Karen had a gift of beautifying the space around her”.

Her talents included her award-winning photography, sewing, upholstery work, decorating, cooking, and baking the very best peach blueberry pie. She was hands on in the renovation of their 1773 stone farmhouse which she held dear throughout her lifetime. Elsie deWolfe, a renowned designer, said “I’m going to make everything around me beautiful, that will be my life.”, and this was Karen’s unspoken motto.

She was a faithful steward of her home and made life and holidays and traditions extraordinary for those she loved. Karen enjoyed sea shelling on her walks on the beach at their Jekyll Island and St Simons Island homes, berry picking at their Ganoga Lake house, and collecting antiques and dolls. Above all, she adored time spent with her Mom and Pops, her daughter Kristin and her grand-girls.

She is survived by her husband, R. Randolph May, her daughter Kristin M. Pfleegor (husband Mark) and her children, Skylar Becker (husband Xavier), Anikah Wilson (husband Andrew), Emma Mikita and Klarah Mikita. Karen is also survived by a sister, Audrey Ferrebee, a brother Dennis Freezer, a brother Jeffrey Freezer, numerous sisters and brother’s in-law, nieces and nephews.
