Obituary For Kenneth L. "Kenny" Snyder

Kenneth L. “Kenny” Snyder, 80, of Danville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and his very much-loved dog, Susie on Friday, January 5, 2024, at his home. He was born on June 10, 1943, in Bloomsburg, PA; the son of the late Michael “Lee” Snyder and Sarah (Ackley) Snyder.

Kenny graduated from Danville Area High School.

He worked in the morgue at Geisinger in his younger years, then at TRW making jet engine parts before becoming a long-haul driver at 27, retiring from ABF Trucking after over 40 years of service. Kenny was proud to be a member of the Teamsters Union.

Kenny was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Danville.

Kenny enjoyed Knoebel’s Amusement Park, not missing a summer, the Ferris Wheel & the Carousel Horses were his favorite. He would tell stories about tearing down rides for the fairs when he was younger & would say he always wanted to be a “carney”. He would look forward to the Bloomsburg Fair every year, taking family & friends up in the evenings just to watch them have a good time.

Kenny loved to have family over to swim while he cooked on the grill. Even though he drove truck and spent most of his time on the road, he still loved to travel, Hawaii, Cape May, The Statue of Liberty, and he even drove to Texas to visit his son on several occasions. Kenny could be gone for days at a time on the road for work and still come home to ask his wife if she wanted to go for a drive. He was a fan of the Three Stooges & The polka.

Kenny also loved the home shopping networks. He would stay up half the night to find just the right gift for his family, he’d say “What could you use? It will give me something to look for.” Kenny would see a “deal” on non-stick frying pans, Tupperware, Snuggies, coffee, anything you could think of and if he thought it was something everyone would like, he would buy it in bulk! It was a running joke that he was on a first name basis with QVC. Kenny was truly an amazing person with a big heart who loved with all he had, looked past imperfections, and just enjoyed living life. He would do anything to help anyone that needed it and not think less of them for it, “we’ve all been there” he’d say.

He is survived by one son , Lawrence “Larry” Snyder and his wife Judy of Longview, TX and three step daughters, to which he thought of as his own, Sallie Simmons and husband Rod of Northumberland; Christine Hassinger and companion Jeff of Danville; Wendy Breon and husband Paul of Northumberland, as well as thirteen grandchildren, Heidi Vaughn and husband Anthony and Aryan Snyder and wife Heyzel; Terra Earlston and husband Brian, Tabitha Gaul and companion Michael, Samuel Gaul and wife Asia;; Autumn Dosch and her husband Justin, Valerie Shelly and her husband Dane, Meredith Snyder and her husband Kyle, Josh Simmons and his wife Kaitlyn, Megan Hauck and her husband Kyle, Blair Wentz and his wife Jenny, Isaac Breon, and Sarah Breon, as well as his 20 great-grandchildren; and his loyal friend and neighbor, Brandon Hixson.
