Obituary For Kizzy Mae Herrold

Kizzy Mae Herrold née Mordan, 43, of Danville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at Geisinger Medical Center on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. Kizzy was born June 21, 1981, in Danville, Pennsylvania, to her mother, Annie Mordan.

Having grown up in Danville, she acquired her education from the area school district and graduated from Danville High School in 2000. Kizzy held several jobs throughout her professional career. In the past, Kizzy held various positions during her employment at Geisinger Medical Center. Her most recent employment was as a Pennsylvania State employee. Additionally, she worked part-time at Danville American Legion Post 40, and at East End Fire Company. She had a strong work ethic and was one of the hardest working people one would have the privilege of meeting.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joshua Herrold, who has remained by her side through times of joy and adversity. They were married for nearly 19 years, married on November 5, 2005, and were in a devoted relationship 7 years prior to their marriage. All those who had the pleasure of knowing Kizzy and Joshua witnessed their care and devotion to one another.

Kizzy was a bubbly, gregarious, funny, outgoing person, who captured the hearts of those she met. She was a great lover of animals, having owned several dogs and cats, and even one ferret, during her lifetime. Kizzy volunteered at the Pennsylvania SPCA, Central PA Center in Danville when she was young and was deeply committed to the rights and treatment of US Veterans.

Kizzy was passionate about traveling with her husband and close friends. Her favorite travel destinations were St. Thomas, Grand Cayman, Sint Maartin, and Cancun. One of her greatest joys in life was snorkeling with sea turtles in the Caribbean and visiting a sea turtle sanctuary in Grand Cayman. Kizzy was also an avid reader. She enjoyed books of all genres ranging from suspense and drama to fantasy. Kizzy enjoyed visiting beaches, swimming, and relaxing by a pool.

Kizzy was a compassionate person who had many friends whom she considered family. She was loyal and generous to a fault, providing support and unwavering love to those in need at the drop of a hat. Her memory will be cherished daily by her closest friends, and she will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother Annie Mordan, of Danville, Pennsylvania, and her brother David Switzer, also of Danville, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Ruth Fowler, and her two brothers-in-law, David Herrold and Kevin Herrold. She also had many nieces and nephews to whom she was greatly devoted.

Throughout her lifetime, Kizzy battled many health ailments with the utmost courage and strength. Her determination and resilience in times of strife served as an inspiration to those who knew her well.

A benefit in her honor will be held at the Danville American Legion Post 40 on Saturday, September 7, 2024.

Family and friends request that donations be made to the Pennsylvania SPCA, Central PA Center in Danville, an organization for which Kizzy held much passion.
