Lisa Ann Eagles Balough, 60, of Danville, PA, passed away Thursday, September 10th, 2026, at her home.

Lisa was born February 12th, 1966, in Massena, NY, and was the daughter of Arthur Eagles and Shirley Eagles-Salmon, and sister to James Eagles. Lisa attended Plattsburgh State University and McGill University, earning degrees in Business and French.

Lisa was empathetic, quick-witted, and had a unique way of making anyone feel at ease and understood. After working in business and radio in Plattsburgh, Lisa returned to Watertown, NY, to run Watertown Glass and Hardware with her mother, Shirley. The two carried on the legacy of Arthur, who passed away December 10th, 1989. It was at Watertown Glass and Hardware that she met Brian J. Balough and they married February 15, 1993.

Lisa was the dedicated mother of Amanda Balough, Cheyenne, WY, Benjamin Balough, Baltimore, MD, Sarah Balough, Arlington, VA, and Rebecca Lando, NYC, NY. She instilled in all of her children a zeal for life, learning, and pursuing their passions. Through her love, encouragement, and support, Lisa modeled for her children how to approach life with an open heart and an empathetic soul.

Lisa had a passion for adventure, and as a military spouse, she dedicated herself to embracing new people and places. Her exploration of new places started first in Watertown and then continued to San Antonio, TX, Aberdeen, MD, Cincinnati, OH, Savannah, GA, Fort Meade, MD Leavenworth, KS, Canberra, Australia, Fort Monroe, VA, Heidelberg, Germany, Puyallup, WA, Alexandria, VA, and finally Danville, PA. No matter where she was living, Lisa cultivated a home built of memory, celebration and understanding. No challenge was too large, and no concern was too small. Instead, with every new transition Lisa lived a life of action and involvement.

In each of these new places, Lisa sought out a community through her Catholic faith, volunteering, and running educational programs. Lisa was an active member of every parish she joined as a Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan, CCD teacher, member of the choir, and, at St. Mary Star of the Sea, even the resident handyman. It was at St. Mary Star of the Sea in Fort Monroe, VA, that Lisa pursued her Catholic faith by starting what would become a lifelong devotion of becoming a Third Order Carmelite in the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites. She was consecrated in Nice, France, in 2008, surrounded by her family and beauty. Lisa volunteered her time with Meals on Wheels, local bread banks, and Catholic Charities thrift stores. She was a eucharistic minister for the home bound and gave solace to those who were alone or tired. Lisa was a dedicated homeschooling mother, running and organizing programs for her children like The Great Courses Book Club and her Shakespeare Book Club in Heidelberg, Germany. She was continually researching educational pedagogy and found ways to foster her children’s interest both educationally and extracurricularly. Lisa was an avid reader herself and formed and participated in book clubs and Bible studies in every new place the family moved to. She found joy in sharing the written word through different genres and time periods, having a special place in her heart for Dickens, Tolstoy, Austen, Vonnegut, Tudor, Potter, and Sedaris.

Lisa pursued her passion for architecture and design upon moving to Alexandria, VA. She became active in the Alexandria community, running estate and antique sales, and volunteering at the INOVA Mount Vernon Hospital. Upon moving to Danville, PA, Lisa pursued a lifelong passion for renovating and restoring an 1882 Italianate home to its former glory. Lisa dedicated the last years of her life to creating a beautiful life and space for herself.

Lisa leaves behind family, friends, and most importantly, loving memories. She lived her life sharing her heart and passions with those around her. Lisa will be forever missed and leaves behind a legacy of love, empathy, passion, and a future of hope.
