Obituary For Lois H. Laver

Lois H. Laver, 99, of Danville, PA, and formerly of Millville, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Vintage Knolls in Danville, PA. She was born April 5, 1925, in White Hall, the daughter of the late George Albert and Mae Ball Holdren.

She graduated from Turbotville High School in 1943.

Lois was married for 54 years to the love of her life, the late Charles Howard Laver whom she married in November of 1943.

She was employed as a seamstress for most of her life by Stine and by Milco Industries in Millville PA.

Lois was a member of Mill-Green United Methodist Church in Millville, PA where she served for many years as a Sunday school teacher.

She was an avid craft person, especially sewing, crocheting, needlepoint and ceramics. Lois enjoyed traveling to Europe, Hawaii and Branson, Missouri. Her greatest enjoyment in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She loved to attend and was very supportive of all their sporting events and various activities.

Lois had a witty personality and always brought smiles to those around her. She will be remembered for being the matriarch of her family, bringing them all together for holidays and occasions using her warm hospitality. She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, warmth, and love that will be cherished by her family and all who knew her.

She is survived by one son: Charles “George” Laver and his wife Judith of Rome NY and Saundra L. Lewis of Millville PA. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Mark, Nancy, Michelle, Jeff and Maria and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Shirley Shallenberger of Scottdale, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Myles “Jack” Holdren and Ronald Holdren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Lois’s Life to be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Mill-Green United Methodist Church 75 South State Street Millville, PA with her pastor, the Reverend Robert Strozyk officiating. Burial will follow in the Millville Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM.
