Obituary For Lois Jean Kashner
Lois Jean Kashner, 87, of Danville, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at her residence. She was born October 2, 1935, in Danville, PA; the daughter of the late John E. and Sarah Wertman Burns.
Lois graduated from Danville Area High School.
She was married for 64 years to her devoted husband the late Robert Kashner. They were married August 20, 1955.
Lois was employed at Fulmers Trucking as a secretary then went on to be Danville and Mahoning-Cooper School Districts head cook from where she retired.
She was a member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church Riverside where she served as the head of arranging funeral luncheons and was a part of the prayer shawl knitting ministry. Lois was a former member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, Danville where she served in the nursery and on the altar committee. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Lois was deeply devoted to her church and to her family. She loved traveling with her husband, knitting, playing cards with her lady friends, and making her grandson cheese sandwiches. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful friend.
She is survived by three daughters; Karen Kashner of Berwick, PA; Barbara Keeler and her husband Pete of Bloomsburg PA and Brenda Boughner and her husband John of Sunbury PA. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Lois’s Life on Monday, January 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church 426 Sunbury Road Riverside PA with Pastor Greg Molter officiating. Burial will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital 3551 North Broad Street Philadelphia PA 19140.
