Obituary For Louise P. Hawkins
Louise P. Hawkins, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born on October 3, 1934, in Salem, West Virginia; the daughter of Eldon and Carrie (Gaines) Pernell, who preceded her in death.
Louise graduated from Salem High School and eventually became a prolific business owner in Danville. She owned and operated H&R Block, Danville Secretarial Services, DSS Temps, and Snelling and Snelling Employment Agency. However, her involvement in the community did not stop there. Louise served on the Thomas Beaver Free Library Board and was the President of the Chamber of Commerce. She was also an active member of the Danville Revitalization Organization and Danville Business and Professional Women’s Club.
Louise enjoyed many activities, such as traveling, yard work, jigsaw puzzles, and knitting. She was an enthusiastic fan of Penn State and loved playing Mahjong with her friends, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. Louise was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished every moment with them.
Louise’s heart was filled with gratitude, and her sweet smile and humor brightened many lives. She will forever be cherished and remembered by all those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
She is survived by two daughters; Kim Savidge and her husband Rod of Mechanicsburg, PA; Kay Roth and her husband Byron of Danville, PA and one son; Mike Hawkins and his fiancé Christy Baxter of Ocala, FL. Louise is also survived by seven grandchildren; Tim, Adam, Derek, Christopher, Matthew, Erin, and Megan, fifteen great-grandchildren; Lauren, Madison, Andrew, Bryent, Karsen, Kaiden, Abigail, William, Henry, Joseph, Eleanor, Jackson, Everly, Charli and Kennedy; and one sister-in-law; Loretta Pernell. Her brother, Robert Pernell, preceded her in death.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Louise’s Life on Monday, June 19th, 2023, at 11:00am at Grove Presbyterian Church, 376 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821 with visitation at the church from 10:00am-10:45am. Burial will be private in the Grove Presbyterian Memorial Garden.
