Obituary For Margaret Mary VanSickle

Margaret Mary VanSickle, 76, of Riverside, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024, at her residence. She was born August 20, 1947, in Scranton PA, the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Jean Marie Kell Boylan.

Margaret graduated from St. Paul’s High School in Scranton PA in 1965 and from Scranton Hospital School of Nursing in 1968.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Thomas E. VanSickle of 55 years. They were married on January 4, 1969.

Margaret was employed as a registered nurse at Geisinger Medical Center for over 40 years, from where she retired. Throughout her career as a Registered Nurse, she provided comfort, care, and healing, leaving a lasting impact on her patients and colleagues alike. After retiring, she thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at The Good Samaritan in Danville PA.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Danville PA.

Margaret enjoyed playing Bingo, attending auctions and one of her greatest joys was going on cruises.

Beyond her professional role as a nurse, Margaret’s greatest joy in life came from her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She poured her love and devotion into her family, cherishing every moment spent together and creating memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Forever remembered, forever loved, Margaret Mary VanSickle will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons: John E. VanSickle of Harrisburg PA and Christopher M. VanSickle of Lewisburg PA and two grandchildren: Matthew and Adam VanSickle. Also surviving is one sister, Ann Marie Boylan Field and her husband David and two brothers: Michael Boylan and his wife Joan and Sean Boylan; all of Scranton PA. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. She was preceded in death by one brother Thomas Boylan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church 68 Center Street Danville PA with Father Timothy Marcoe as Celebrant. Friends will be received in St. Hubert’s Chapel at the church from 9:30 – 10:45 AM. Her place of rest will follow in the Columbarium at Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Mission 568 Ferry Street Danville PA 17821.
