Obituary For Mary Ann Davis

Mary Ann Davis, 79, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully while holding the hands of each of her three children on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at her residence. She was born on November 27, 1944, in Shenandoah, PA; a daughter of the late Bernard and Audrey (Shoop) Balcavage.

Mary Ann graduated from Danville Area High School in 1962.

She was married to Harold “Butch” Davis who preceded her in death on November 23, 2020. They were married for 37 years. Mary Ann missed him dearly up until the moment she joined him in heaven.

Over the years, Mary Ann was employed at Community Jewelers, Old Dutch Bakery, Servomation Vending at Merck, Helmrich Seafood, and McWilliams Pharmacy.

She was a member of Mahoning Presbyterian Church, Danville. Mary Ann selflessly served on the Elections Board for numerous years.

Mary Ann found joy in the simple pleasures of life, relishing in cooking, playing cards, mushroom picking, shopping and fishing that she learned from her dad. Her love for these activities was only surpassed by her adoration for her family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with them, finding peace and happiness in their company.

She is survived by two sons; Robert West, Jr. of Riverside, PA; Joseph West, Sr. and his wife Regina of Berwick, PA and one daughter; Lori Shultz and her husband Scott of Danville, PA as well as five grandchildren; Brandon Shultz, Kayla Snyder, Laura Lucas West, Joseph West, Jr., and Rachel Martz. Mary Ann is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Nala. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Forrest W. Shoop, Sr. and two siblings in infancy, Bernard Charles Balcavage and sister; Patricia Ann Balcavage.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Mary Ann’s Life to be held on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church, 12 Brookside Dr. (642 East), Danville, PA; with the Reverend Dawes J. Dunham officiating. A viewing will be held from 11:30 AM- 12:45pm. Burial will be private at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Fire Company, 111 Ferry Street, Danville, PA 17821, in memory of Mary Ann and Harold “Butch” Davis.
