Obituary For Mary Jacqueline Zenyuh

Mary Jacqueline Zenyuh, 71, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday morning, September 30th, 2025. She was born on August 26, 1954, in Danville, PA, the daughter of the late John and Eleanore Shields of Greenridge, PA.

Mary attended Saint Cyril’s Academy in Danville, PA for high school and graduated from College Misericordia with a BS degree in Nursing.

She married her devoted husband, Paul Andrew Zenyuh, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mount Carmel, PA, and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mary was employed at Geisinger Medical Center for over 40 years, first as a Registered Nurse then as a founding member of the Case Management team at Geisinger Health Plan.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Danville, PA for over 45 years, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, School Volunteer, and a Youth Group Leader.

Mary enjoyed serving her church community, attending Broadway shows, bus trips with friends and volunteering for numerous local organizations including the American Heart and Case Management Associations. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her 13 grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by one son James (Heidi) Zenyuh of Centreville VA, daughters Jacqueline (Eric) Wischman of East Aurora NY, Andrea (Aaron) Dembeck of Danville Pa, and Katie (Marc) Nespoli of Berwick Pa, and 13 grandchildren, Helena, Quinn, and Nolan Zenyuh, Luke, Jack, and Sophia Wischman, Malin, Dylan and Emmi Nespoli, and Andrew, Eliana, James, and Carolyn Dembeck as well as her sister Eleanore of Clarks Summit Pa.

In addition to her parents John and Eleanore Shields, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers James and John Shields.

The Family asks that Mary be remembered for her profound and deeply rooted faith. She was a true servant of the Lord and was at peace as she passed on to Heaven.

Mary was truly an angel here on earth. I was privileged to have worked with Mary at Geisinger Family Practice Catawissa , but had conversed with her while I worked at a local nursing home, she was so good at what she did, I teased her when we first met in person, that I was so honored to get to work with her. It was an extreme blessing to then be able to call her a good friend. She was one of the kindest people I know. So glad I got to see her in August, and give her one last hug and kiss. I love you Mary and will miss your friendship greatly.

Paul and Family, I was so sad to hear about Mary. I had no idea that her cancer had come back, so it was truly a shock. I have so many memories of all the times we shared for 50+ years. I'm so happy that she came to my birthday party last year and the Misery girls got to be together minus Hoagie. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. Love, Judy
