Obituary For MaryAnn Blosky

MaryAnn Blosky,74, of Danville PA was welcomed into Eternal Life on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at her residence. She was born February 27, 1949, in Shenandoah PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Wasilko Kershitsky.

MaryAnn graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1966 and obtained her RN Nursing Degree from Ashland School of Nursing in 1969. She later obtained her BSN in Nursing from Bloomsburg University and two master’s degrees in nursing from Penn State University and Wilkes University.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Richard L. Blosky. They were married on April 11, 1970.

MaryAnn was employed in nursing, research, and nursing administration at Geisinger Medical Center for 45 years, from where she retired in 2015.

She was the President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Firefighters Association of Pennsylvania just entering into her second term. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Continental Fire Company, the Six County Fireman’s Association, and the Lame Duck’s Organization. She also served as secretary for the Nightingale’s Award Committee, was a catechist at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and a dedicated volunteer with The Good Samaritan in Danville, PA.

MaryAnn was an avid reader, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was a dedicated Penn State and Disney fan. She loved going on cruises with her husband.

Throughout her professional career, she established herself as a nurse with integrity, honesty and an unparalleled work ethic. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as the matriarch of the family who did the job well. One of her greatest enjoyments in life was to have all of her family together at the annual reunions.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son: Bernard J. Blosky and his wife Elizabeth of Hershey PA, and one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Cross and her husband Robert of Lakeside, California. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Annabelle, Joseph, Corbin, Cash, Ashley, Josh and Chelsea. As well as four great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Susan Sabanos and her husband Don of Wilmington, NC, and two brothers: Joseph Kirk and his wife Susan of Middletown, DE and Daniel Kershetsky and his wife Carole of Leland, NC as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Charles Wasilko.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 68 Center Street, Danville, PA 17821 with Father Timothy Marcoe as celebrant. Friends will be received from 9:00 – 10:45 AM in St. Hubert’s Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Danville, PA.
