Obituary For Melanie Angela Gerringer

Melanie Angela Gerringer, 70, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was born on May 16, 1956, in Hazleton, PA, the daughter of the late Angelo and Margaret (Yucina) Sacco.

Melanie graduated from West Hazleton High School and went on to become a registered nurse through Luzerne County Community College.

She was married to her devoted husband, Ray C. Gerringer, for 38 years.

They were married November 7, 1987.

Melanie was employed as a registered nurse at Geisinger Medical Center for 38 years retiring in 2021.

She attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville.

Melanie was known for her joyful heart and zest for life. She found peace in the simple pleasures that life offered, whether it was soaking up the sun at the beach, nurturing her beautiful garden, or losing herself in the pages of a captivating book. Her loyal Bernese mountain dog, Bear, was a cherished companion, providing her with comfort and joy as they shared countless adventures together.

Above all, Melanie treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and her warmth and laughter will forever echo in their hearts.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Tyler Gerringer and his wife Katy and one daughter, Sara Angela Perry of Danville as well as three grandchildren, whom she adored, Lennyx, Harper and Logan. Melanie is also survived by two sisters; Michelle Kislan of Hazleton and Melissa Carrabotta of Virginia as well as two brothers; Mark Sacco and his wife Lucia of Ithaca, NY and Michael Sacco of West Hazleton. She is also survived by three sisters in law; Janet Hoffman and her husband Gary, Beth Mertz and her husband Dennis and Deborah Gerringer.

In addition to her parents, Melanie was preceded in death by one son in law, Joshua Leland Perry, one brother-in-law, Artie Gerringer, her mother-in-law, Helen Gerringer and her father-in-law, Donald B. Gerringer.

No services will be held.

    So sorry to hear of the passing too soon of a wonderful person. I worked with Melanie at Geisinger. She was a great caregiver. I remember how she used to make me laugh when she gave report...the stories that she would tell. Rest in peace my dear friend and co-worker. God bless.
