Obituary For Nancy Ann Moore
Nancy Ann Moore, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 13, 2026 knowing she was loved by her family and friends.
Nancy was born January 1, 1948 to Anthony Joseph Chendes and Helen P. Ripka. Raised in Flint, Michigan by her mother and grandmother she learned how to be a strong woman from strong women.
Nancy went on to study at the local university, got married, and welcomed a son, Eric, in 1970.
By the late 70's Nancy was a single mother living with another single mother. They raised their children together while leaning on each other for support and forming a lifelong bond.
Just before the 1980's she was introduced to Kevin Moore, whom she married in 1980. They welcomed the birth of their first daughter, Heather, later that year. Five years later, another daughter, Kristen joined the family.
In 1986 Nancy and Kevin bought a house in Lake in the Hills, IL. Many memories were made there. Family road trips, renovating the kitchen and bathroom, raising their beloved pet dog from a puppy. Nancy supervised it all after working a full day, while helping her children with homework, and cooking dinner. She shined as a mother and homemaker, always making sure her family had enough and that everyone felt special on birthdays and holidays.
She watched her three children graduate from the same high school and felt great pride as her son earned multiple degrees including his Masters. In 1995, she was overjoyed when he married and welcomed another daughter to her family.
Nancy became a grandmother in 2001 with the birth of Elysia Dawson, her first granddaughter. She was thrilled with grandparenthood and continued to welcome four more grandchildren: Colin, Jeremy, Emmalea, and Warren. The happiness they brought her is immeasurable.
In 2008 she overcame the death of her husband Kevin with all the grace and strength one could expect.
With her nest empty and her husband gone, Nancy decided to follow her son to North Carolina and resided there for several years while watching her grandsons grow.
By 2015 she had moved to Pennsylvania to be with her youngest daughter and grandson. During those years she experienced the joy of becoming a great-grandmother, twice! Salvatore and Rosalie brought her so much joy in her final years.
Nancy was many things, daughter, friend, wife, mother, working mother, single mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, strong woman, patriot, staunch democrat, avid reader, music lover, amateur photographer. She loved action and disaster movies, unicorns, murder mysteries, all things purple, romance novels, Lou Malnati’s pizza, the Chicago Bears, and home-made gifts from her children. When necessary, she was a force to be reckoned with, though her love and care for her family remain her enduring legacy.
That legacy survives through her son Eric McEntee, daughter-in-law Denise McEntee, daughter Kristen Moore, grandchildren Elysia, Colin, Jeremy, Emmalea and Warren, and her great-grandchildren Salvatore and Rosalie. She has now joined her grandmother Petronela Ripka (nee Kaminski), mother Helen Chendes (nee Ripka), husband Kevin Moore, and daughter Heather Moore on the other side of this life. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
