Obituary For Nancy I. Styer
Nancy I. Styer, 90, of Danville PA passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville PA. She was born on June 29, 1934
in Danville, PA, the daughter of the late Alvin W. and Lois L. Hilliard Cooke.
She graduated from Danville Area High School in 1952.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, the late Paul C. Styer who passed away October 10, 1997. They were married on April 4, 1953.
She was a member of Mahoning Presbyterian Church where she served on the Women’s Association and on the Session. Nancy also served as a former Treasurer of the Danville Booster Club and was the first treasurer when the Jubilee Kitchen was founded. She also volunteered with the Elysburg Garden Club and was very active with the Danville High School Band when her children participated.
Nancy embraced the role of homemaker with grace and dedication, nurturing her two sons, Kevin and Kenny, with boundless affection and wisdom. Her home was a place of love, laughter, and the unmistakable aroma of her warm meals, where memories were created and cherished by all.
She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State fan. She loved attending Kevin’s concerts and musicals and traveling with her friends, and will be remembered for her passion and her drive.
She is survived by two sons: Kenneth P. Styer and his significant other Troy Litwhiler of Bloomsburg, PA and Kevin B. Styer and his wife Sharon of Shamokin, PA as well as one sister-in-law, Lois Cooke of Danville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: LaRue Cooke and Luther “Lee” Cooke.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Nancy’s life to be held Thursday, December 19, 2024, at11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street, Danville PA. Friends will be received from 09:30AM – 10:45AM. Burial will follow in Columbia Hill Cemetery, Danville, PA.
