Obituary For Nelson J. Diehl

Nelson J. Diehl, 91, Danville, PA, passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 at his residence. He was born November 10, 1931, in Danville PA, the son of the late Robert and Martha Williams Diehl.

He graduated from Danville High School.

Nelson proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmin Bohner Diehl in 2016.

Nelson was a lifetime member of Washington Fire Company in Danville PA, the Danville Moose #1133, and the Danville American Legion Post 40.

He was employed as an aide by the Selinsgrove Center in Selinsgrove PA, from where he retired.

Nelson loved NASCAR. He was an avid football fan, especially the Kansas City Chiefs and loved watching the Philadelphia Phillies. In earlier years, his passion included building racecars and he owned various classic cars throughout his life.

He was a good, honest man and a generous soul who was always willing to help out when called upon. His family and his friends knew they could always count on him to lend a hand and will be dearly missed by them all.

He is survived by two sons: David and Brian Diehl and four daughters: Jackie Wright and her husband Ernie; Jeanette Das, Becky Eckenrode and her husband Keith and his stepdaughter, Debbie Bohner. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers: Letitia Beiter and her husband Tom; James “Pete” Williams, Lee Williams and his wife Bonnie, Anna Louise Willoughby and Barbara Reynolds and four sister-in-laws: Lois Diehl, Arlene Diehl, Pat Diehl and Eleanor Diehl, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Kathy Black Diehl in 2014 and one grandson, Jason Wright in 2008 as well as six brothers: Dan, Frank, James, Robert, Clyde, and Clark Williams and three sisters:

Thelma Diehl Styer, Martha Diehl Knight and Rose Williams.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
