Obituaries

Ralph Eugene Hinkle ,91, of Riverside PA passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025, and is now at peace with his Lord and Savior. He was born on January 15, 1934, in Danville, PA, the son of the late William and Rebecca Persing Hinkle.

Ralph attended Danville Schools.

He was self-employed in earlier years farming for Harold Whitenight and was also employed by Donald Jones for several years. He most recently was self-employed in lawn care.

Surviving is the love of his life, Audress Ford Hinkle whom he would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 23rd of this year.

Ralph was a member of the Roaring Creek United Methodist Church in Catawissa, PA, where he enjoyed singing in the choir, not always in tune, but with his whole heart. His other memberships included Southside Fire Company and Friendship Fire Company.

One of Ralph’s greatest joys was vegetable gardening and hunting. He was very well known for his scrapple. He thoroughly enjoyed bus trips with his wife and camping at Shady Rest Campground in Eyers Grove, PA. He was especially fond of his feline companion, Missy.

He will be remembered as being hardworking and always volunteering to help with repairs. Many were very fond of his “yodeling” and entertained many over the years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Jeffrey Hinkle and his wife SuAnn of Northumberland, PA; Richard Hinkle and his wife Marcie of Old Orchard Beach, Maine and Glenn Hinkle and his wife Lori of Riverside, PA and one daughter, Barbara Swartz of Elysburg, PA. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Ralph Hinkle III, Robert Cooper, Jamie Fegley, Justina Hinkle, Alyssa Hinkle, Haylee Hinkle, Adrienne Goudy and Samuel Hinkle as well as 8 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

He was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Hinkle, Jr. in September 0f 2004.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Ralph’s Life to be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Roaring Creek Valley United Methodist Church 6 Orchard Drive Catawissa, PA with Pastor Kym Eichelberger officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
