Obituary For Richard E. Ayers

Richard E. Ayers, 80, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at his home. He was born on May 4, 1944, in Gratz, PA, the son of the late Myles Elwood and Anna Mae (Bellis) Ayers.

Richard graduated from Danville Area High School.

He was married to his devoted wife, Debra L. (Cromis) Ayers for 25 years. They were married on July 3, 1999.

Richard was self-employed lifetime farmer and worked as a truck driver for Boyd Station, retiring in 2021.

He was a member of many local fire companies.

Richard’s joy in life was farming. He also enjoyed NASCAR and Drag-racing in earlier years. Richard was an avid Penn State Football fan and adored his dogs.

Richard will be remembered for his calm demeanor and gentle nature. His legacy of compassion and understanding will be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing him. In his quiet way, Richard touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving furry companion, Sam. Richard is also survived by two sisters; Carol Whitcomb and her significant other, Alan Bowman and Cindy Ayers and her significant other, Andy Tiazkun.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one brother, Donald E. Ayers.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Danville FFA, 733 Ironman Lane, Danville, PA 17821.
