Obituary For Richard G Heath

Richard G. Heath, 64, of Danville PA passed away on July 7, 2024, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born November 27, 1959, in Philadelphia PA, the son of the late Dr. Robert D. and Patricia Jellett Heath.

Richard graduated from Danville High School in 1979.

He served his country in the United States Air Force from July 6, 1979, to March 5, 1984.

In earlier years, he was employed at Quaker Photo in Philadelphia PA for several years. He returned to Danville PA in 2007 to be a primary caregiver for his mother until her passing in 2012. Prior to his death, was employed by Geisinger Medical Center in the Environmental Services Department.

Richard found a lot of enjoyment in life through the lens of his camera. He loved to travel, with a special fondness for Shenandoah National Park. An unwavering supporter of his favorite sports teams, the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, and Penn State, Richard's excitement for these teams brought joy to his days. Known for his dry sense of humor and dedication to his family's history, Richard held a special place in the hearts of those who knew him and was lovingly referred to as “The Gurn”. A gentle spirit with a quiet soul, he lived a modest life and left a legacy as a man of integrity and kindness and will be missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by four brothers: Robert D. Heath, Jr. and his wife Diane of Villanova PA, Peter S. Heath and his wife Barbara of Danville PA, David J. Heath and his wife Sally of Riverside PA and Taylor L.W. Heath and his wife Mary of Riverside PA and one sister: Ellen W. Reynolds and her husband Barry of Danville. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved Goddaughter, Emily Heath of Wynnewood PA, whom he adored.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life online at donate.cancer.org.
