Obituary For Richard Landis Smith

Richard Landis Smith, 87, of Northumberland PA, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2024. He was born September 23, 1936, in Sunbury PA, the son of the late Katherine Blaine.

He served his country with honor in the United States Navy.

Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Vada Louise (Brady) Smith. They were married on December 26, 1992

He was a member of the New Life Worship Center in Turbotville, PA.

He was employed by Chef Boyardee in Milton as a meat grinder, from where he retired.

Richard enjoyed reading his Bible. An avid sports fan, he was especially fond of the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his kind soul, sweet nature and congenial ways. He will be missed dearly.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Christopher Brady of Northumberland PA and two daughters: Tammy Smith and her husband Rodney of Milton PA and Julie Bartos and her husband Joe of Northumberland PA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Joey, Kimmie, Deanna, Jackie, Madeline, Brandon, Brittany and Michael as well as seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Smith in 1991. He was also preceded in death by his son, Reverend Bruce E. Brady on January 11, 2023, and several brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Richard’s Life to be held Monday evening, September 9, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 42 West Mahoning Street Danville PA with Pastor Mark Erb officiating. Friends will be received from 5:00 PM – 5:45 PM. Burial will be private.

The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Worship Center c/o Rodney Smith 187 Limestone Road Milton PA 17847.
