Obituary For Robert Charles Hendricks, Jr.
Robert Charles “Bob” Hendricks, Jr., 79, of Danville, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pennsylvania on Monday, February 23, 2026. He was born on December 27, 1946, in Danville, PA, the son of the late Robert C. and Martha J. Mullen Hendricks.
Bob graduated from Danville High School in 1964.
He was a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, having enlisted on September 14, 1965, and honorably discharged on September 13, 1967, achieving the rank of Corporal.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 39 years, Candis M. Lyons Hendricks. They were married October 17, 1986.
Bob’s latest employment was at Danville State Hospital, from where he retired.
He was a life member of the Danville American Legion Post 40; where he served as Senior Vice Commander. He was also a member of the original Honor Guard where he served as Vice President.
Bob was an avid golfer and played in the Monday Night Leagues at Cherokee Golf Course. His favorite football teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and Notre Dame. He was especially fond of his feline companion, “DiNozzo”.
Bob's sense of humor and genuine interest in others will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be fondly remembered for being a supportive husband, father and grandfather. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren, all of whom he adored.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Michelle L. Keefer (Terry) of Danville, PA; Megan M. Whitley (Matt) of Elysburg, PA and one son, Robert J. Hendricks of Plains, PA. He is also survived by three stepchildren: Shon Springer and his fiancé, Crystal Roshon; Stacy Whapham (Zach) and Todd Springer (Aisha); all of Danville, PA. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Jacob, Alan, Austin, Jayden, Derrek, Sidney, Ava, Gavin, Weston and Brielle. One brother, John William Hendricks of Sunbury, PA, also survives.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Albert and two sisters: Marsha Bingaman and Patty Hoover.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Walkthrough Celebration of Life to be held on Tuesday evening, March 3, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 PM at Visneski Funeral Home, 42 West Mahoning Street Danville, PA. Burial with full military rites will be private and accorded at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
The family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Danville American Legion Post 40 Honor Guard c/o David Callahan 53 Mooresburg Road Danville, PA.
