Robert David Roney, 65, of Danville, PA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 19, 2026, at his home. He was born on March 20, 1961, in Shamokin, PA, the son of the late

Robert Joseph Roney and Patricia Girardi Roney, who survives.

He graduated from Danville High School in 1979.

He is survived by his devoted wife of eight years, Emily Long Roney. They were married December 31, 2017.

Robert was employed by CMSU in Danville PA as a Residential Program Supervisor for several years. He also was a PA State Constable and enjoyed being a bartender at Friendship Fire Company in Danville, PA.

He was a member of several fire companies including Friendship Fire Company, Washies, Continental, East End, Southside and Catawissa VFW.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, Crappie fishing and camping. He also enjoyed playing pool with two memberships: BCA Pool League and TAPS Pool League.

He especially enjoyed his beloved dogs, who adored him.

Robert was a loving son, husband and father. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his campfire stories and talks. His selfless nature was evident by his compassionate caring and putting his family and others first. Robert embraced each day with enthusiasm, leaving behind a legacy of joy and kindness.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by four daughters: Sarah Stachelski of Bloomsburg, PA, Danah Hack of Bloomsburg, PA, Maya McEvoy and her husband Ryan of Farwell, MI and Hannah Varner of Mifflinville, PA. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Austin, Jaxson, Raelyn and Mia as well as several nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by one brother, Todd J. Roney and his wife Rebecca of Danville, PA and one sister, Pamela Roney of North Potomac, MD; one brother-in-law, George Long and his wife Marie of Lake Preston, SD; two sisters-in-law: Peggy Long, Patty Kembel and her husband Kerry, all of Herndon, PA; his father and mother-in-law: George and Lillian Long of Herndon, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Visneski Funeral Home, Inc., 42 W. Mahoning St., Danville, PA with Pastor Eric Miller officiating. Friends will be received from 9:30am-10:45am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg, PA.
